The lion is a vulnerable species, having seen a major population decline in its African range of 30–50% per two decades during the second half of the 20th century. Lion populations are untenable outside designated reserves and national parks.  In Uganda they can be found in parks like Queen Elizabeth National parks. Uganda is well Known for it's tree climbing lions. Although the cause of the decline is not fully understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are currently the greatest causes of concern. Within Africa, the West African lion population is particularly endangered. The population of Uganda's lions is increasing doe to increasing conservation efforts. Lions live for 10–14 years in the wild, while in captivity they can live longer than 20 years. In the wild, males seldom live longer than 10 years, as injuries sustained from continual fighting with rival males greatly reduce their longevity. They typically inhabit savanna and grassland, although they may take to bush and forest. Lions are unusually social compared to other cats.

It occurs in dry savannah in Africa south of the Sahara, although it nests in somewhat wetter habitats. They can also be found in marshes, cultivated lands and grassy flatlands near rivers and lakes in Uganda  This animal does not migrate. There are two subspecies. The East African B. r. gibbericeps (crested crane) in  Uganda, of which it is the national bird represented in its national flag. It has a larger area of bare red facial skin above the white patch than the smaller nominate species, B. r. regulorum . This species and the closely related black-crowned crane are the only cranes that can roost in trees, because of a long hind toe that can grasp branches. This habit, amongst other things, is a reason why the relatively small Balearica cranes are believed to closely resemble the ancestral members of the Gruidae.

The black rhinoceros or hook-lipped rhinoceros is a species of rhinoceros, native to eastern and central Africa including. Although the rhinoceros is referred to as black, its colours vary from brown to gray. In Uganda the rhinos can be found in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
The other African rhinoceros is the white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum its the pointed or hooked lip of the black rhinoceros.      Uganda The Pearl Of Africa.     

 

These species are now sometimes referred to as the square-lipped (for white) or hook-lipped (for black) rhinoceros. The species overall is classified as critically endangered, and one subspecies, the western black rhinoceros, was declared extinct by the IUCN in 2011. Many are arboreal, although there are species that live primarily on the ground, such as baboons for example in Uganda we have the Olive baboons and can be found at Murchison falls national park in Uganda.
. Uganda has a number of Monkeys. Monkeys are generally considered to be intelligent. Unlike apes, monkeys usually have tails. Tailless monkeys may be called "apes", incorrectly according to modern usage; thus the tailless  ape".

 Uganda The Pearl Of Africa.Matooke  is a variety of starchy banana, commonly referred to as cooking bananas. The fruit is harvested green and then cooked and often mashed or pounded into a meal. In Uganda it is steam-cooked and the mashed meal is one of the national dishes of the country.
The medium-sized green fruits, which are of a specific group of banana, the East African Highland bananas (EAH) are locally known as matoke. Bananas/plantains were a common staple crop around the Lake Victoria region of Uganda.

Uganda The Pearl Of Africa.  Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda in East Africa. The park is part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, the Albertine Rift. It comprises 331 square kilometres (128 sq mi) of jungle forests and contains both montane and lowland forest and is accessible only on foot. The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site.
The forest is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa and the diversity of species is a feature of the park. The park provides habitat for some 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species. Floristically Bwindi is amongst the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns. The northern (low altitude) sector is rich in species of the Guineo-Congolian flora. These include two species internationally recognised as endangered, Brown mahogany (Lovoa swynnertonii) and Brazzeia longipedicellata. In particular the area shares in the high levels of endemisms of the Albertine Rift.^[

Uganda The Pearl Of Africa.  Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, The park is inhabited by a population of more than 400 individual mountain gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei), known as the Bwindi population, which makes up almost half of all the mountain gorillas in the world. The rest of the worldwide mountain gorilla population is in the nearby Virunga National Park. A 2006 census of the mountain gorilla population in the park showed that its numbers had increased modestly from an estimated 300 individuals in 1997 to 320 individuals in 2002 to 340 individuals in 2006. Disease and habitat loss are the greatest threat to the gorillas. Poaching is also a threat.
